is one of the oldest, if not the oldest wine village in South Tyrol. There is hardly anybody from the village who is not involved with the cultivation, preparation, or marketing of wine in some way. Besides having two big wine cooperatives, wine is also produced privately, which is often, and happily, tasted and enjoyed in the many wine cellars known as “Tiefen”. Almost every farmhouse has a so-called “Tiefen” cellar, which is an underground cellar. They say that once upon a time the village was bigger and more spacious under the ground that it was above.
